Lil Wayne(Real Name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr.) is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, record executive, entrepreneur, and actor. On Tha Carter V, Wayne opened up about his depression and the real story behind gunshot wound that nearly killed him at the age of 12, so the symbolically titled Funeral is also expected to address some weightier material. Ahead of the album release, the New Orleans native has already launched an extensive merch collection for "Funeral," which includes CDs, vinyl, long-sleeve shirts, graphic tees, hoodies, hats and beanies. On January 23, Wayne announced that ‘Funeral' will drop next Friday, January 31, with pre-order available now.
Funeral has been a hot topic since 2016 when Wayne first mentioned the album. The New Orleans rapper took to Twitter to announce the highly anticipated follow up to his 2018 album ‘Tha Carter V'. Wayne briefly spoke about the project during an August 2019 interview with Q93's Wild Wayne Weezy told the radio host the Funeral album had already been recorded, but needed to undergo final touches. Thankfully, they won't have much longer to wait for a follow-up to that 2018 album, as the rapper has revealed a January 31st release date for his newest project, Funeral.
